What is Practical Agriculture for Hāmākua?
Practical Ag for Hāmākua offers innovative training sessions designed to support and advance sustainable agriculture in our community.
Monthly classes for farmers and community members specific to the unique environment found on the Hāmākua Coast will be led by experts in their field giving everyone from seasoned farmers to hobby gardeners the opportunity to gain quality knowledge in an intimate setting where questions and conversations are encouraged and knowledge and best practices can be shared.
Local farm tours will follow each class offering participants a first-hand experience of how these skills are implemented and a chance to witness their results in real time.
The class-by-class model of our program allows you to choose which classes are most relevant to you and convenient for your schedule.
Providing existing farmers with the education and skills to advance farming and food production will greatly contribute to the success of our local farmers and the expansion of agriculture in Hāmākua and enrich the community.
